GERD is a condition of the body that causes stomach acid or food to flow back up the esophagus. Usually commonly called Acid Reflux or Heart Burn.
GERD is caused by the lifestyle and diet choices we make, as well as through our genetics handed down to us by our parents.
People who are diagnosed with GERD have been diagnosed because the backwash of food in the stomach has eventually damaged the esophagus, which can be identified by a doctor. Symptoms of GERD are usually through the feeling of an acid burn in the esophagus, also called heart burn.
