April is National Donate Life Month

What is National Donate Life Month?

Every year in April National Donate Life Month (NDLM) is celebrated. This event was organized by Donate Life America and their collaborating organizations. Every year activities are scheduled at the local, state, and national levels to inspire people to become a registered donor.

When a person thinks of donating they generally envision organ donation after death. There are four kinds of donors:

  1. eye
  2. tissue
  3. organ
  4. living

Help Others By Becoming A Donor!

By becoming a donor a person can save many lives, bringing hope and health back to someone who might otherwise have a reduced quality of life. There is a significant demand for tissue, organ, and eye donors. When celebrating National Donate Life Month, you can become more informed about the small steps each person can take in caring for their fellow man and work towards adding some of these into your daily life.

This Years Symbol

This year Donate Life America has chosen a pinwheel to be symbolic of the cause. A pinwheel represents the ability to “obstacles into opportunities.” The pinwheels they are using are made up of four sails and one stem. This is meant to personify the potential one person has in making a difference in the lives of others, in the four donation categories.
